Basic Purpose:
This position works to integrate Environmental and Safety programs and initiatives
seamlessly into daily operations across the entire Space Florida organization. This position
will primarily focus on Environmental requirements, programs and is responsible for
permitting, NEPA compliance, coordination and collaboration with Federal and State
agencies and regulators. Position will include monitoring, reporting, and mitigating the
presence of hazardous conditions to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment for
Space Florida employees, and the successful implementation of Space Florida projects.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR TASKS:
- Manage, support, and enforce the Space Florida EHS program.
- Support all Space Florida departments in their efforts for EHS compliance,
identify and communicate regulations and requirements, perform inspections,
document and communicate violations and non-conformance, develop
documentation and corrective action plans. - Support and lead, as assigned, Space Florida EHS activities, related to
compliance with EHS standards, policies and regulations, including permitting,
generating NEPA documents, and compliance related functions. - Provide regulatory information, planning, process and support for all
environmental media (water, waste, air quality, remediation, threatened and
endangered species, etc.), responding to inquiries and providing regulatory
information to support compliance as required. - Provide regulatory support to ensure OSHA and general safety compliance for all
projects, facilities and Space Florida personnel and other Federal and State
safety regulations that may apply. - Serve as Space Florida Environmental regulations and requirements Subject
Matter Expert (SME) and use knowledge to comply with FDEP, EPA
regulations and NASA, Space Force and FAA requirements. - Provide cross-functional support across all business units of Space Florida
- Advise customers, Project Managers, tenants, and contractors onsite in EHS
related matters. - Review project and construction plans, procedures, and other project
documentation, make recommendations and give EHS direction when required. - Maintain permits, inspection reports and appropriate EHS records for compliance
with Federal, State, and local regulations and requirements. - Maintain and update management system data and records.
- Maintain training records.
- Provide onsite EHS training when required.
- Coordinate and communicate with State, Federal, and local regulatory agencies
and organizations, including, but not limited to NASA, EPA, FDEP, FAA, OSHA,
SJRWMD, USFWS, DOI, NMFS, FWC, Brevard County, Port Canaveral, FDOT
and others.
SUPERVISION:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
- 5 to 7 years of EHS experience in safety or environmental field or equivalent
experience in operational management - OSHA 30 Hour training for General Industry and Construction
- 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental or Engineering discipline
- Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP),
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP),
or qualified to obtain certifications. - Knowledge and experience in handling and disposal of hazardous waste,
environmental permitting, wetlands, Threatened and Endangered Species and
experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) - Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or OSHAS 18001
