Basic Purpose:
This position provides leadership in Space Florida’s evaluation and pursuit of opportunities related to new and emerging space markets and related advanced aerospace and space systems and technologies. This position is responsible to identify, prioritize, and shape strategic opportunities to strengthen Florida’s leadership role in advanced space markets and technologies.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR TASKS:
- Lead Space Florida’s efforts to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and define strategic opportunities for Space Florida in emerging space markets and related enabling technologies, including but not limited to: point-to-point space transportation, in space manufacturing, in-space servicing and refueling, orbital maneuvering and logistics, space solar power, in-situ resource utilization and/or resource extraction, commercial low earth orbit destinations and habitats, novel or kinetic launch systems, planetary surface systems, orbital re-entry systems, and other emerging or future cis-lunar economic opportunities.
- Lead Space Florida’s efforts to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and define strategic opportunities for Space Florida in emerging aerospace markets and related enabling technologies, including but not limited to: EVTOLs, vertiports, supersonic and hypersonic platforms, and high altitude/upper atmospheric platforms.
- Responsible to define, implement, and maintain new Space Florida programs that effectively position Space Florida to maintain a leadership position in emerging markets and technologies.
- Responsible to maintain current knowledge of existing and proposed advanced aerospace systems and markets, and to summarize and disseminate this insight within Space Florida to inform Business Development pursuits, strategic investments, state or federal policy initiatives, infrastructure planning, communications and marketing, and related efforts.
- Responsible to maintain current knowledge of the economic environment for emerging space markets and commercial business plans for use of emerging technologies including projected development costs and timelines, potential revenues, and market dynamics including competing novel and traditional technologies.
- Responsible to lead Space Florida’s accumulation of strategic market intelligence in advanced space technologies and markets including infrastructure and site selection requirements and forecasts, relevant federal or state policy, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership to other Space Florida departments and functions in the pursuit of strategic opportunities by providing thoroughly vetted investment recommendations and defining prioritization of efforts to maximize SpaceFlorida’s impact in emerging aerospace markets and technologies within limited resource constraints.
- Responsible to represent Space Florida in appropriate space industry ,technology, and market forums and to establish Space Florida in a thought leadership position relative to advanced aerospace technologies and emerging markets.

- This job does have not have supervisor responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Space Operations, Business, or similar relevant field
- Over 10 years’ progressive leadership experience in the commercial space industry and/or related technology sector(s).
- Demonstrated business and technical acumen in the space and/or aerospace technology sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
